Abstract
Epidermal inclusion cyst in paravaginal space usually occurs following vaginal trauma such as episiotomy, colporrhaphy, female genital mutilation etc. causing ingrowth or implantation of epidermal tissues underneath epidermis. In general, it is small and slow growing. Therefore, it usually remains asymptomatic and is discovered incidentally on gynecological examination. However, we experienced a case of a huge painful epidermal inclusion cyst in the paravaginal area that had grown larger for about 2 weeks. The ultrasound images showed that an 11.6 ¡¿ 9.0 ¡¿ 7.6 cm sized ovoid heteroechoic cyst has multiple internal echogenic foci in pelvic cavity. After a surgery and pathologic analysis, we could diagnose an epidermal inclusion cyst in paravaginal space. We present a rare case of a huge epidermal inclusion cyst in the paravaginal area with a brief review of literatures.
